What I am offering is not available anywhere else! I am a professional performing oboist and a professional reedmaker. I have over two decades of experience teaching at all levels, and working with oboists brings me JOY.  I’d love to help YOU move to the next level of expressiveness and ease on the instrument.  


During this Two Day Virtual Intensive, you’ll get plenty of concrete information. We’ll talk about the expressive TOOLS of oboe playing like DYNAMICS, VIBRATO, TONE COLOR, and ARTICULATION. We’ll consider how your own natural human communication and rhetoric can be magnified musically. Guest Expert Dr. Lindsay Flowers will introduce the framework of the Tabuteau numbers system in case MATH is more your style! 

 You’ll be able to apply the skills, in real time, and try them out on your oboe safely behind your mute button. We’ll spotlight a few performers from the group to play for us, and be coached live for the benefit of ALL. 

 We’ll also have a lot of fun getting to know each other. Geography is always a problem for oboists, and it’s rare to have a roomful of them - but not on Zoom! We can laugh, cry, and commiserate together, and we can make each other better in community! 

 The highlight of this intensive is a set of creative and safe improv games and fun challenges designed to ease us ALL out of our comfort zones to play more freely, more bravely, and more expressively!

Have you ever gone to a yoga class unsure about whether you'd be able to do the things, and nervous that people would see you struggling? ME TOO! These games will NOT be scary, and they are appropriate for all levels.  You won't have to sink back into a defeated Child's Pose and wait for the rest of the class to pause so you can catch up. It's going to be SAFE, and hopefully helpful, and certainly fun!
